The Former Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University A. Murigeppa underlined the need for the ‘Haalumatha Adhyana Peetha’ to focus on the future to improve the lives of the Kuruba community.
Speaking after releasing 10 books, brought out to mark the decennial celebrations of the chair on Tuesday, said that the future research should aim at improving the traditional vocations of the community.
“There is also a need to spread about the history, culture and tradition of Kuruba community. Even Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa should join hands in support of the welfare of the community,” he said. Kantaraj, Chairman of Backward Class Commission, underlined the need for the researchers to frame guidelines for the community to prosper.
Siddalingaiah, poet, suggested that the government to ensure that the traditional blanket was adopted by the hospitality industry to safeguard the vocation’s future.
He also underlined the need for the government to allot adequate grants for the university to carry out more and more research activities.
Several prominent persons were felicitated on the occasion in recognition of their services for the establishment of the study chair and also towards welfare of the community.
